First Pickings

We finally were able to pick our first tomato! You can imagine how excited Philip was to pick and eat this little treat. We look forward to the many green ones turning soon.

Day out with Thomas!

The highlight of our summer has been the Day out with Thomas! Only thirty minutes away, there is the annual visit made by Thomas the Tank and we knew that Philip was going to love it. For two weeks Philip was checking the calendar and asking which day was the Thomas day. We had the first train ride at 8:45 and so we left the house at 7:00 to make sure that we wouldn't miss our train. It was really nice to see the grounds before the crowds arrived.

There were lots of train tables which we visited many times.

As we headed up the hill for our train ride, Philip heard the whistles go and he got so excited!

What could be better than this!

Lucy was very good the whole day.

Playing with bubbles.

The bouncy Thomas.

I think that Lucy likes Thomas too!

Garden update

Well it is definitely growing. We have lots of little green tomatoes and the peppers keep getting bigger. In fact, Philip accidentally knocked a pepper off of the plant and so we gave it a try. I spat my bite out and Mike ate his and was tearing up. They are not even red yet which is when they are supposed to get hot. However, Mike did try it again on some enchilladas and liked it very much. That is a good thing too since we noticed there are a lot of new blossoms sprouting.

Beating the heat

This past week has been horribly hot and humid. So we have been spending most days in the basement mixed with trips to places with a/c. Here are a few pictures though that I was able to catch here and there.

Enjoying the fine weather

We have been spending a lot of time outside this past week.
And both kids absolutely love it!

Lucy has just started sucking on any combination of fingers that she can possibly fit in her mouth and it is rarely just the thumb alone. It looks pretty ridiculous.

Bike Riding!

The newest of Philip's achievements is his ability to ride a bike. He absolutely loves it! There are still a few minor details like braking that he needs to learn but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. And I think that he just looks too darn cute while cruising down the sidewalk!

Our garden

We are very excited to have started a little garden this year. There are grape tomatoes, hungarian hot peppers, parsley, chives, carrots, rosemary, thyme, and basil. Philip really loves to water the plants and can't wait to pick his tomatoes when they are ready! I will post some more pictures as the produce grows ripe.
