Birthday Bash!

I can't believe that two years has flown by so quickly! Philip thoroughly enjoyed his day and it seemed that the fun just didn't stop!

It also happened to be the nicest day we have had so far this spring. And the temp even made it to 85! Now of course that means we had to bring out the water toys. And we enjoyed a BBQ and dinner out on the back patio. It was great!

Philip really enjoyed the ice cream cake that Fr. Creurer gave him!

And what two year old doesn't like blowing out candles! He even got to do it twice.

But as we all know that the best part of a birthday is the presents! And he sure got a lot of them. We still have two sitting on our table that he will get to open later. What a lucky kid!

Before Mass

This morning before Mass Philip had the privilege of a personal tour in the sacristy. I think this is a good sign for his future!

The Simple Things in Life

Saturday was so lovely that we walked over to the Fitzpatrick's home to make use of the backyard. It amazes me how long Philip can play with a bucket of water. We are looking forward to many more days like this.

Science Lesson

Philip loves to bounce balloons around the house. Usually this will buy me some time to get some things done or just sit uninterrupted at the computer. However after he had been hollering and jumping on the couch and had to see why. His balloon had picked up some static electricity and it was stuck to the ceiling.

As you can see he was not much amused by the situation.

After I took it down, he discovered that if you lie on top if the balloon it pops! And that was the end of my peace and quiet.

Drummer Boy

Simon had out his bodhran last week and Philip couldn't resist the urge to try it out. It may take a few years of practise and some better technique but I think he has lots of potential! I thought that Jeremy would especially appreciate these photos. It reminds me of your drum!

Cousins!

We had a blast Easter week with Sean and Sophie visiting. Philip absolutely loves playing with Annie and Eve. We took a little field trip last Friday and went to feed the ducks at a nearby park. Of course we mostly found seagulls but the children didn't seem to mind, they just chased them!

The great part about going to a park and being outdoors is that you never know what you will get to see.
The chipmunk was a nice surprise!

Now the fun didn't stop there. We continued to another park that had some great structures to climb. Philip and Eve both liked the school bus best.

We have been suffering a bit of withdrawal this week. But hopefully it won't be long before we get to see them again!

Happy Easter!

He is risen, Alleluia! I want to wish everyone a very blessed Easter.
Philip had an early morning start to his egg hunting. He is not very good at finding even the most obvious eggs. Maybe we will have to play this game more often so that he can become more observant. I know that what he really enjoyed was finding the candy inside!

We're moving!

It is official now! Mike has accepted the offer to study at the University of Western Ontario. We are very excited and relieved to finally know where we will be this coming fall. It is about a seven hour drive from Ottawa and only five to Cleveland. Hopefully we will be able to make both trips often. It is a little daunting to think of packing up all the stuff we have accumulated these past three years but maybe we can use this as a good opportunity to let go of some things that we really never use.  Well that is the plan at least. The next step now is to line up some housing! If everything works out then we should be able to get into the married student housing which will be a great place to start off. We will just have to take things one step at a time and before we know it, it will be time to move!

Knitting

For the last three weeks, I have diligently been working on a Layette set for The Lyceum Auction. I had to stay up a bit later this week but it is finished and in the mail! I am really happy with how it looks. This was the first time that I made booties. They were so easy and fast that I will have to use the left over yarn to make some more pairs.

Poor Philip could not understand why I had the camera out and was not pointing it at him. So he posed nicely and I caught this cute picture. He then ate the orange and we had a great day!

Faces

Philip spends many hours everyday drawing and having us draw things for him. Last week I was completely shocked when he brought his notebook to me and started drawing this face. While he was scribbling, he said, "Thomas, eyes, nose, and mouth." I think that it looks pretty good for a kid that is not even two! He must get this talent from Mike. I only draw stick figures.

Snow in April!!!

Much to my surprise, this morning when I looked out of our window I saw that is was snowing! I just can't believe it. We had been able to see the grass yesterday. I just had to share my disgust. So much for spring. :-(
